September 27, 2012 - SDMI, in conjunction with the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), will launch the Ready to Resume Workshops for small businesses and non profit organizations in November 2012.  These workshops will be held in 25 locations (at least 2 workshops in each of the 9 Homeland Security Regions) across the state of Louisiana and will educate small businesses and non profit organizations about the importance of hazard mitigation and business preparedness.

April 16, 2012- SDMI will announce the creation of the Center for Business Preparedness at the Continuity Insights Management Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.  The Continuity Insights Management Conference is the premier event for strategic business continuity discussion, offering unmatched opportunities to learn from and network with those responsible for the integrity, availability, resilience and security of their organizations.

Along with the announcement, SDMI will be hosting an information session about the Center and has invited organizations and individuals to learn more about the Center and help develop the next generation of tools and practices that will result in improved operations and better preparedness for businesses, their supply chain partners, and the extended community.
