Preparedness principles are the same for all business - but scale is different for small businesses. Learning how to tune messages to different audiences is an area of active research for current SDMI/Center for Business Preparedness projects. In addition to this, staff and affiliates are engaged in an outreach effort with other organizations looking to develop appropriately tuned messages.
There is also a need to overcome preparedness fatigue and disaster amnesia, especially in some areas which have significantly affected by recent events. The Center will leverage existing networks to make sure business owners understand the value of preparedness and help create a strategy for community resilience to disasters.
